ipodThe new ipod shuffle which was recently released is a new nifty way of listening to part of your music collection whilst on the go.

Before, it literally just shuffled music and played it. Now, it does the same but tells you via robot women voice the current track, playlist and battery information.

This is all old news in the grand scheme of things, however I bet you didn’t know that the parts to make the shuffle come to a total of  $22, thats like £15!

Apparently the ipod touch comes to about $147 in parts with a retail value of $299 to use in comparison. (When it first came out).

No wonder they heavily marketted the shuffle - small cost, bigger mark up!

itunes 8.1Apple released an updated iTunes today with a few new features worth mentioning.
The update was mostly for the support of the new third gen ipod shuffle which I’m yet to have a play with. (Talking ipod!)

Documented changes include general accross the board speed enhancements and improvements when importing, Genius additions including TV and Movie match support, a parental controls revamp and most interestingly, something regarding iTunes DJ?

After looking this up, I found out that its the new name for party shuffle. party shuffle was always a silly name for a feature to be honest, so the change is welcomed!

Apple’s iTunes Store may soon receive a boost as it aims to introduce HD tv shows to its offering. UK customers have access to a wide range of TV shows, but few of them are HD.

It seems this is soon going to change, although it is not without a price. It’s likely that these shows such as Lost will be available, but for roughly £2.50 per episode, given exchange rates, still above what US customers pay.

The addition of HD shows is a step forwards, but many may wait for Blu-ray versions as high street prices continue to fall.
